Niagara Grapes Growing your own fruit is so rewarding and these Niagara grapes are just so easy! These grape vines are hardy and grow very fast. The blooms are very fragrant and the vines turn crimson in the fall, a very interesting plant, even without the fruit. Get them planted early and let the spring rains settle them in. Grapes are best grown in deep, loamy, well-drained soils in full sun. They tolerate a wide range of soil conditions, but must have good drainage. In colder areas, they prefer a location sheltered from winter winds (preferably a southern facing slope). Self-pollinating. Grapes need a support system, a fence or trellis works best. 'Niagara' is a hardy American grape variety. It is a woody, deciduous, tendril climbing vine which typically will grow 15-20' long unless pruned shorter. Panicles of fragrant, greenish flowers in spring are followed by clusters of white grapes which ripen in midseason (early September in USDA Zone 5). Niagara is considered to be a good grape for wine, fresh eating, juice or jellies. These are two year old plants with a good strong root system. They will be shipped bareroot with moist material around their roots. Berries are shipped March thru May only.
